U.S. Facilities, Inc., a consolidated facility management service, is seeking an On Call Bridge Operator to work in the Richmond, Hopewell and Charles City, VA area. Serving as Bridge Operator, operating electric controls in the bridge house to control motor vehicle traffic by activating signals and raising and lowering traffic gates. Open and close the bridge to permit safe passage of waterborne traffic. Ensures that motor vehicle traffic and vessel traffic are properly controlled when opening and closing the span.
- Maintains statistical data and reports in written and electronic logs.
- Perform routine janitorial duties to maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Must have a positive and responsible attitude.
Other Responsibilities:
- Notify maintenance personnel of mechanical/electrical problems and incidents.
- Maintain paperwork and logs.
- Basic computer skills i.e., electronic logbook, email, timekeeping
- Notify project manager of any pertinent matters of the bridge or health of oneself that may affect bridge operation.
- Perform light housekeeping.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- Virginia Driver's License in good standing
- 18 years of age or older
- At least one year's experience operating moveable bridges or similar equipment is preferred.
- Bridge Operators shall have experience with equipment used to operate the bridge.
- Operators must be able to operate electrically operated bridge and traffic control devices, signaling devices, safety equipment, emergency power generators, and radios.
- Must be able to correctly read and interpret a variety of gauges, meters and indicators used to provide the status of the various bridge operating systems.
- Must be able to understand, speak, read, and write the English language.
- Physically fit, must be able to climb stairs and ladders.
- Must be familiar with all regulatory requirements applicable to the operation of movable bridges.
- Operators will be required to complete 80 hours of on-the-job training and demonstrate they are proficient and knowledgeable of all bridge systems and perform 10 training openings, 2 of which must be at night, before standing a shift alone. On the job training and training openings
shall be required for each bridge assigned.

On-Call Bridge Operators:
* Must be able to work any shift.
* Be willing to work holidays, weekends, and emergency call-ins.
* Holiday pay is prorated if working a holiday.
